Way back in 1981 was when CHRISTUS
Health (formerly Sisters of Charity Health Care System)
began caring for military beneficiaries as a part of the Uniformed
Services Treatment Facilities. In 1993, we, along with other
US Family Health Plan programs around the country, became the
first government-sponsored managed care plan - the Uniformed
Services Family Health Plan (US Family Health Plan) and enrolled
our first members.
We have grown since then to now serve
the healthcare needs of almost 20,000 military beneficiaries
in Southeast Texas and over 101,000 families nationwide. From
the beginning, members believed that the US Family Health plan
was a good plan and demonstrated this with high member satisfaction
ratings. Since then, the response to the quality of care and
service has been overwhelmingly favorable, with member satisfaction
ratings of 90% this year, a rating significantly higher than
the industry standard. This shows that people really appreciate
the way they are treated and, likewise, we're proud to serve
those who have served!

US Family Health Plan is a health benefits
plan for eligible family members and retirees of all seven uniformed
services: the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public
Health and NOAA. You're eligible for
the plan if you are in any of the following categories:
- Husbands, wives and eligible family members, including
stepchildren, of active duty uniformed service members*
- Retirees, their husbands and wives, and qualified
unmarried children*
- Non-remarried husbands and wives and qualified unmarried
children of deceased retired service members*
|
|
* Children qualify if they
are unmarried, 21 or younger or up to the 23rd birthday if he or she
is in school full-time.
The benefits of the US Family Health
Plan include a consistent, coordinated program of healthcare managed
by a Primary Care Physician. Special duties may make it necessary
for active duty personnel to receive their care from military facilties,
and deployment may result in members being absent from the area for
months at a time. Consequently, active duty uniformed service members
may not enroll in the US Family Health Plan at this time.
